Has played in 16 games during his Mississippi State career, starting nine times overall -- the final three games of his redshirt freshman season at quarterback and six during his sophomore campaign . . . Had that sophomore season interrupted by a broken collarbone twice ? the first following the season opener and the same bone again in Week 11 . . . Returned in Week 6 following that first injury . . . Made a brief appearance in one game during his true freshman campaign, but was granted a medical redshirt in 2005 to regain that true freshman year . . . Has completed 135-of-308 passes (.438) for 1,831 yards, nine touchdowns and 15 interceptions . . . Has also rushed 45 times (minus 66 yards) . . . Came to MSU following a senior season in which he led his prep team into the second round of the Alabama high school state tournament.
2006:
Played in seven games during an injury-ravaged sophomore campaign, starting six times . . . Started the season’s first game against South Carolina and from Week 7-11 . . . Also saw action against West Virginia in Week 6 . . . Completed 74-of-169 passes (.438) for 1,201 yards, seven touchdowns and nine interceptions . . . Also rushed 18 times for 18 yards . . . Kicked off his sophomore season as the Bulldogs’ first-unit quarterback in the opener with South Carolina . . . His activity was limited, however, to just less than a half of action when he suffered a broken collarbone . . . Played in eight games during his redshirt freshman campaign, earning starts in the final three games of the season (Alabama, at Arkansas, and Ole Miss) . . . Saw action in all but the Tulane, Georgia and Houston contests . . . Completed 60-of-135 passes (.444) for 621 yards, two touchdowns and five interceptions . . . Rushed 25 times (minus 79 yards) . . . Saw reserve work in Mississippi State’s season-opening victory over Murray State . . . Was on the field for a pair of fourth-quarter series against the Racers and threw three incomplete passes . . . Worked two more offensive series in the Bulldogs’ SEC opener at Auburn in Week 2 . . . Completed two-of-two passes for 10 yards against the Tigers . . . Worked the entire fourth quarter of State’s Week 5 game with LSU in relief of starting quarterback Omarr Conner . . . Completed two-of-four passes for 32 yards against the Tigers . . . Saw the most extensive work of the first half of his redshirt freshman season at Florida in Week 6 . . . Completed nine-of-20 passes for 119 yards against the Gators . . . Again received substantial work two weeks later at Kentucky . . . Completed 16-of-31 passes for 200 yards against the Wildcats . . . Came in during the third offensive series of the game and played the rest of the way for the Bulldogs . . . Earned his first collegiate start in Week 9 match-up with Alabama . . . Had the best game of his redshirt freshman campaign in the Bulldogs’ season-ending 35-14 victory over Ole Miss in the Battle for the Golden Egg . . . Both of his TD throws came in a three-minute stretch of the fourth quarter, a 1-yard pass to Bryson Davis and a 5-yard toss to Jerious Norwood, that expanded a 21-14 MSU lead to the game’s final score . . . Those passes were part of a five-of-seven second-half showing . . . Impressed the coaching staff with his play during the spring-ending Maroon and White game . . . Completed six-of-12 passes for 43 yards against the team’s first defense . . . Ended spring second on the depth chart at quarterback.
2004:
Played in one game during his true freshman season . . . Completed one-of-four passes for 9 yards, and added two rushes (minus 5 yards) . . . Made the only appearance of his first year on campus at Vanderbilt in Week 5 . . . Completed one-of-four passes for 9 yards with an interception against the Commodores . . . A medical redshirt has been requested (separated shoulder) to regain his true freshman season.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Rated the #1 quarterback at the 2003 summer Bowden Quarterback Camp, he won the camp’s long throw competition with a 64 and one-half yard toss . . . He was also selected to the EA Sports Elite 11 quarterback camp that summer, one of just 100 quarterbacks nation-wide to be extended an invitation . . . Credited with running a 4.6 in the 40-yard dash by the Insiders.com online recruiting website . . . After playing behind a three-year starter for his first three years of high school, he led his Jefferson Davis High School team in Montgomery, Ala., to an 8-3 mark, with the three losses coming to teams with an aggregate 41-3 record . . . He helped his team reach the second round of the Alabama Class 6A playoffs in 2003 . . . Completed 71-of-149 passes for 1,339 yards, 14 touchdowns and just seven interceptions during his senior campaign . . . He closed the 2003 season with a flurry, throwing for 825 yards, eight touchdowns and no interceptions in the final five games.
