Has played in 22 games during his Mississippi State career, including two games during a medical redshirt third season on campus . . . Has earned 12 starting calls in the defensive secondary . . . Started three times at a cornerback position during his initial year on campus and nine times at strong safety as a sophomore . . . Has recorded 65 tackles, including two for loss (minus 4 yards) . . . Also credited with two pass deflections, two caused fumbles and one recovery . . . Came to MSU after helping his high school team to a state championship by being named all-state as a senior.
2006:
Missed most of the practice work during the 2006 preseason camp after suffering hamstring and shoulder injuries . . . Played in two games during his junior campaign, a season in which he was granted a medical redshirt . . . Dressed for the first time in Week 3, but did not play vs. Tulane . . . Made his first appearance of the ’06 season at UAB one week later and was on the field briefly in Week 5 . . . Sat out the second half of the season after failing to return to full-speed from his preseason injuries . . . Sat out the entire 2006 spring practice session while rehabbing an off-season knee surgery . . . Returned to the strong safety mix when two-a-day drills commenced in August.
2005:
Played in 10 games during his sophomore season, earning nine starting calls in the defensive secondary . . . Saw action in all but the Florida game (Week 6) and started every other game but LSU (Week 5) . . . Finished seventh on the team and third among defensive backs in total tackles with 38 hits . . . Made one tackle for loss (minus 2 yards) . . . Credited with two pass deflections and a fumble recovery . . . After seeing considerable playing time at the cornerback position during his true freshman campaign, he opened his second season at MState as the starter at strong safety . . . Was a hit at his new position from the beginning of the ’05 campaign, registering 21 tackles during the first four weeks of the season (5.3 per game) . . . Was second on the club with seven tackles and had a fumble recovery in the Bulldogs’ season-opening 38-6 victory over Murray State . . . His fumble recovery came toward the end of the second quarter just after MSU had taken a 10-6 lead in the game . . . It came on a second-and-10 play from the Murray 49 . . . One play later, State scored again to build a 17-6 margin . . . Helped hold the Racers to just 141 yards passing and the 6 points allowed by the defense was the lowest in the Croom Era and the fewest points surrendered since a season-opening 17-3 win over Memphis in 2000 . . . Only missed seeing game action during the Bulldogs’ midseason win over Florida due to injury . . . Earned his three starting assignments over a four-week span (Weeks 3-6) . . . Totaled 27 tackles on the year, including one for loss (minus 2 yards) . . . Also credited with a pair of caused fumbles . . . Registered 18 of his tackles during the opening four weeks of the season . . . Pressed into immediate service from the outset of his true freshman season . . . Saw action on both special teams and as a reserve at the cornerback position . . . Recorded four tackles in the Bulldogs’ season-opening 28-7 win over Tulane, including one hit behind the line of scrimmage (minus 2 yards) . . . Ranked with the top 25 recruits in the state of Mississippi by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger following his senior season at South Panola High School in Batesville, Miss. . . . Named first-team, all-state during his final season at South Panola . . . Selected to play in the Mississippi-Alabama High School all-star game . . . Three-year starter at the prep level, his first two seasons at cornerback and the final at free safety . . . Recorded 85 tackles and seven pass interceptions during his senior season, helping his high school team to a state championship . . . Made 90 tackles and six interceptions during his junior campaign.
