CAREER:
Has played in nine games during his still-young Mississippi State career, earning one starting call at the tight end position . . . Has caught one pass (5 yards) and made one special teams tackle . . . Late signee who sat out his first season on campus while rehabilitating a high school knee injury . . . Came to MSU as a highly regarded tight end prospect from the Louisiana prep ranks, he worked with the Bulldog defensive scout team in his first year on campus.
2006:
Did not see game action during his sophomore season . . . Injury-free spring practice period kept him in the regular rotation of tight ends . . . Had three catches for 28 yards and a touchdown, with all of his statistics coming in the spring’s first scrimmage.
2005:
Played in nine games during his redshirt freshman campaign, earning one starting assignment at tight end . . . Saw action in every game but season-ending home contests vs. Alabama and Ole Miss . . . Caught one pass on the season, a 5-yard reception in his first collegiate start, at Auburn in Week 2 . . . Recorded a special teams tackle at Arkansas in Week 10 . . . Sat out all of spring 2005 while rehabbing off-season knee surgery.
2004:
Sat out the year as a true freshman redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL:
One of the top tight end prospects in Louisiana following his senior season for head coach Hank Tierney at West Jefferson High School in Harvey, La. . . . Named to the New Orleans Times Picayune’s Top 20 Blue Chip list . . . Caught 23 passes for five touchdowns as a senior . . . Suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament toward the end of his senior season . . . Was credited with running a 4.8 in the 40-yard dash prior to that injury . . . Helped lead his high school team to a 10-1 record and to a Class 5A playoff appearance in 2003 . . . Did not play high school football until his senior year . . . A three-year letterman in basketball on the prep level.
