Pressed into nearly immediate service from early on in his collegiate career . . . Has played in 32 games in his career, seeing action both on special teams and as a reserve at halfback . . . Has earned four starting calls . . . Has rushed 58 times for 208 yards, a 3.6-yard average, and one touchdown, and had 47 pass receptions for 438 yards, a 9.3-yard average, and one touchdown . . . Has also returned 10 kickoffs for 98 yards . . . Came to MSU following a high school career culminated by a senior season in which he gained more than 2,000 yards and led his prep team to the Class 6A state title game.
2008:
Played in all 12 games during his junior season, earning one starting call . . . Opened the Week 8 game against Middle Tennessee State . . . Rushed 12 times for 50 yards, a 4.2-yard average . . . Recorded all of his rushing stats in the season’s final four weeks . . . Tied for third on the team with 23 receptions for 273 yards and one touchdown, all coming in the campaign’s final eight weeks . . . Also returned four kickoffs for 60 yards, a 15-yard average . . . Returned one kickoff 19 yards in Mississippi State’s season opener at Louisiana Tech . . . Had two catches for 34 yards at LSU in Week 5 . . . Top all-around play kept him in the hunt for playing time as his sophomore season began . . . 2006:
Played in eight games during his true freshman season . . . Missed the season opener against South Carolina and the final three contests of the year, due to injury . . . Started three times in the backfield . . . Earned opening assignments against Tulane and UAB in Weeks 3 and 4, and against West Virginia two weeks later . . . Despite reduced activity due to injury, he still finished third on the team in rushing, gaining 137 yards on 42 carries, a 3.3-yard per rush average, and one touchdown . . . Was also fourth on the club in receiving, hauling in 14 passes for 97 yards, a 6.9-yard average per catch . . . Saw action for the first time during Week 2 action against Auburn . . . Had the best game of his very young career in Week 3 work against Tulane, a game in which he earned his first collegiate start . . . Rushed six times for 27 yards, a 4.5-yard per carry average, with his first career touchdown . . . He scored on a 3-yard burst up the middle with 7:22 left in the fourth quarter, reducing the TU lead to 32-21 at the time . . . Also had a pair of pass receptions for 17 yards against the Green Wave . . . Rushed 13 times for 43 yards, a 3.3-yard average, and led the team with four pass receptions for 30 yards (7.5 yards per catch) against UAB in Week 4 . . . He rushed twice for 16 yards and added a 16-yard pass reception on the first-half drive against the Blazers that set up Adam Carlson’s field goal . . . Had four pass receptions for 51 yards, a 12.8-yard average, at LSU in Week 5 . . . Carried nine times for 40 yards, a 4.4-yard average, leading the club in rushing against West Virginia in Week 6 . . . Suffered a knee ligament sprain against Kentucky which sidelined him for most of that contest and for the remainder of his first season on campus.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Rushed for 2,018 yards and 21 touchdowns during his senior season for head coach Glenn Vickery at Daphne (Ala.) High School . . . Led the Trojans to the Alabama Class 6A state title game against nationally ranked Hoover High School . . . Led all rushers with 102 yards on the ground in that championship game . . . Culminated his career by being named a finalist for the Class 6A Back of the Year and the state’s Mr. Football Award . . . Named to the Alabama Sports Writer’s Association Super 12 team for all classifications, one of just two running backs on the team . . . That organization also listed him first-team, Class 6A (largest classification) all-state at running back . . . Was also named the Mobile Register’s co-Offensive Player of the Year . . . Credited with running a 4.75 in the 40-yard dash and with an impressive 4.38-second timing in the shuttle run at the Auburn Scout.com combine.
