Sat out his first season on campus as a true freshman redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Credited with running a 4.9 in the 40-yard dash and a 30-inch vertical jump by the Rivals.com recruiting website . . . Played tight end on the prep level until his senior season when he made the move inside to offensive tackle . . . Helped Fort Bend Marshall High School in suburban Houston, Texas, become the top-ranked offense in Class 20-5A, averaging 444.5 yards per game during his senior season . . . Helped head coach Dennis Brantley’s Marshall team to a 9-1 record during his senior season and a District 20 championship with a 7-0 mark in league play . . . The team’s only loss came in the first round of Class 5A title play . . . Other top scholarship offers: Iowa, Iowa State, Houston, Baylor and Missouri . . . Committed to Mississippi State in June 2005.
