2014: Pitched in 15 games with one start, going 2-0 with a 4.87 ERA in 20 1/3 innings of work • Held right-handed hitters to a .200 average • Struck out two in 3 1/3 innings of one-run ball June 1 against No. 1 Louisiana-Lafayette on their home field at the NCAA Lafayette Regional • Clinging to a 5-4 lead with the bases loaded against Kentucky May 22 in the SEC Tournament, came out of the bullpen to induce a ground-ball double play to get out of the inning • Picked up his second win against top-15 Ole Miss April 22 at the Governor’s Cup at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Mississippi, holding Ole Miss to one hit in a season-long 3 2/3 innings • Made his first career start April 15 vs. Alcorn State in a 16-2 win, earning a no decision with a season-high four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings of work • Earned his first collegiate win April 12 vs. No. 13 Ole Miss in front of an NCAA on-campus record 15,586 fans • Pitched a shutout inning March 2 at home vs. Eastern Illinois and again five days later against UC Santa Barbara at the Hi Corbett Classic in Tucson, Arizona • Made his collegiate debut Feb. 16 vs. Western Carolina, recording the final out of a 7-2 series-clinching win • Member of the 2014 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
High School: Named the number one left-handed pitcher in the state of Mississippi by national scouting service Perfect Game • 2013 Rawlings Southeast Region Honorable Mention member • Named 2013 MHSAA Class 6A Pitcher of the Year after leading his team to the state championship • Started senior season as a 2013 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-American • Recipient of the 2013 Charlie Lea Award, presented annually by the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds of the St. Louis Cardinals organization for the top prep pitcher in the Memphis area • Earned all-state honors in 2012 and 2013 and all-conference honors from 2011-13 • Went 10-1 with a 0.47 ERA, 98 strikeouts and 16 walks as a senior • Owned a 0.52 ERA as a junior with an 8-1 record and a 0.89 ERA as a sophomore • Chose Mississippi State over scholarship offers from Ole Miss, Memphis, Tulane, Air Force and others.
