2013:
SEC Academic Honor Roll · Saw most of his time on the mound, but also made four plate appearances, reaching once on a walk · Made 13 appearances as an outfielder · Took the mound 20 times, starting 13 of those appearances and registering a 6-4 record with a 4.27 ERA · Struck out 59 batters in 78 innings pitched · Struck out six batters in 4.1 innings pitched in a start against Alabama on May 4 · Tossed a season-high 7.1 innings on April 26 at Vanderbilt, striking out a season-high seven batters · Pitched 3.1 innings of relief and earned the win against Mississippi Valley State, striking out six while giving up just one unearned run · On February 17 against Portland, pitched 4.1 shutout innings en route to earning his first win of the year, striking out six and allowing just three hits.

Saw playing time in 22 games, making 17 relief appearances and drawing late-season starts in five of his last six games • Paced the MSU staff in wins with a 7-5 record and finishing with a 4.45 earned run average • Tied for third on the club with 49 strikeouts • Picked up a win in his MSU debut with 3.1 innings of scoreless, no-hit relief pitching against Akron (Feb. 19) • Also earned wins in relief at Lipscomb (Mar. 16), against Southern Miss (Apr. 5), at Arkansas (Apr. 17) and against eventual NCAA national champ South Carolina (Apr. 23) • Registered a season-high six strikeouts and allowed one hit in the win over USM at Trustmark Park in Pearl, Miss. • Made his debut as a starter and earned his sixth win at Tennessee (May 6) • Blanked Southern Miss over six innings to earn a win in MSU's NCAA Atlanta Regional shutout win over USM (June 3) • Worked a season-longest 6.2 innings in a no-decision start in State's series-opening win at Ole Miss (May 12) • Sported a 2.39 ERA (third-best on the staff) in 17 relief appearances • Finished the season with a 3-3 record and 5.76 earned run average in 10 SEC appearances with three starts.
JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Enjoyed a stellar freshman season in 2010 at Marion (Ala.) Military Institute • Coached by Brett Davis • Honored as the 2010 Alabama Community College Conference Player of the Year • Compiled an 11-2 pitching mark with a 1.77 earned run average • Registered 92 strikeouts while issuing 20 walks in 91.2 innings • Also started in the outfield, compiling a .396 batting average with two home runs, 27 RBI and 17 rookie season strikeouts in 154 plate appearances.

Four-year dual position standout at Laredo's United High School • Coached by J.J. Gomez • Two-time Texas Class 5A All-State performer • Left-handed hurler who starred on the mound as a senior, posting a 10-3 record with three saves and a 1.27 earned run average • Limited opposing hitters to a .199 batting average • Tossed 11 complete games in 16 mound appearances, helping lead the Longhorns to their fourth consecutive district championship • Also played outfield, starring at the plate with a .442 batting average nine doubles, four triples, two home runs and 36 runs scored in 30 games • Pilfered 26 bases in 30 attempts • Two-time team MVP.
