HIGH SCHOOL:
Four-year starter and three-time all-district performer as a left-handed hitting catcher at Brookhaven Academy • Coached by Stephen Cooksey • Capped his prep career hitting .450 and earning first-team Mississippi Private School Association All-State honors • Lashed 17 extra-base hits, including six home runs with 44 RBI and 26 walks as a senior • Also honored as his district's MVP and Defensive Player of the Year • Tabbed as the MVP of the 2009 MPSA All-Star Game • Recognized as the Brookhaven Daily Leader's MVP, and Mr. Baseball for 2009 • Hit .391 as a junior in 2008 with 44 RBI, 15 doubles and 11 home runs (four grand slams) en route to second-team MPSA All-State honors • All-Lincoln County selection and MVP and chosen as the Brookhaven Academy Defensive Player of the Year • Hit .323 as a sophomore and .316 as a freshman • Also a four-year starter in football, earning second-team MPSA All-State honors as a linebacker • Two-time all-district pick and Lincoln County Defensive MVP in football • Starred in summer league baseball competition for the Jackson 96ers, coached by Derik Topik.
