2009:
Dual-position summer signee who made 11 mound appearances in relief and saw playing time in seven games in the middle infield • Posted a 2-2 record with a 7.20 earned run average and 10 strikeouts in 20 innings • Made his MSU debut with 2.1 innings of scoreless relief pitching against Northern Illinois (Feb. 21) • Earned wins in relief against Mississippi Valley State (Feb. 25) and at Memphis (May 12) • Registered a season-high six strikeouts and worked a season-longest 6.0 innings in the 6-5 win over the Tigers • Tagged with the loss at Hawaii (Mar. 7) and against South Carolina (Mar. 15) • Drew a pair of early-season starts at second base against North Florida (Feb. 22) and at Hawaii (Mar. 6) • Made six relief appearances (9.0 innings) against SEC competition, compiling an 0-1 record with a 6.00 ERA • Allowed one earned run in a season-longest 3.1 innings of SEC pitching at Arkansas • Fielded at a .957 clip with one error in 23 defensive chances • Joined 18 Mississippi State teammates on the 2009 SEC Academic Honor Roll.
JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Two-way, two-year standout as a shortstop and relief pitcher at Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. • Coached by Bobby Sprowl • Helped lead SSCC to a pair of state titles and world series appearances • Hit .300 with 66 hits, 28 RBI, four home runs and 32 stolen bases (35 attempts) on the Buccaneers' 49-19 edition that captured the Alabama state junior college title and advanced to a second-place finish in the 2008 NJCAA World Series in Grand Junction, Colo. • Also starred on the mound, posting a 3-1 record with two saves, a 1.26 earned run average and 33 strikeouts in 28 innings of relief work • Earned first-team all-region and all-conference honors and was named to the ACCC all-tournament team • Starting shortstop on Shelton State's 2007 state championship edition that posted a 46-17 mark and finished fifth in the 2007 NJCAA World Series.

Three-sport standout and four-year baseball letterman as a shortstop and pitcher at Dora High School • Helped lead coach Johnny Wright's DHS Baseball Bulldogs to the Class 4A state quarterfinals in 2006 • Piled up a Walker County-record 66 hits as a senior • Finished the year with a .413 batting average, 33 RBI and 28 stolen bases • Also compiled a 12-6 pitching mark with a 1.89 earned run average and a single season school record 120 strikeouts in 2006 • Earned Class 4A all-state and all-metro Birmingham honors and was tabbed the Daily Mountain Eagle 2006 Walker County Player of the Year • Also lettered four years in basketball and three years in football • Member of the Beta Club, Science Club, the Spanish Club at Dora HS.
