
State Tennis Through Day Two At SEC Indoors

"We gave a better effort today," said head coach Per Nilsson. "We dropped two very close matches in singles and I was glad to see the guys' intensity and effort pick up today."
In singles consolation action, State's sophomore Hrehan Hakeem dropped a hard-fought three set battle to James Tuberville of LSU, 6-3, 2-6, 1-0(12). MSU's junior Tanner Stump fell in a two-set decision to Tennessee's Edward Jones, 7-6(8), 6-4.
In doubles play, the MState tandem of Daniel Sanchez and Stump slipped up to Ole Miss' Chris and Marcel Thiemann, 8-4, in the round of 16. After receiving an opening round bye, Bulldogs' George Coupland and Artem Ilyushin fell in the round of 16 to Alberto Gonzalez and Alex Lambropoulos of Kenetucky, 8-6.
MSU's Sanchez and Max Gregor Smith will participate in their final matches in singles consolation tomorrow at the SEC Indoor Championships.
