Was a major contributor in MSU's back-to-back Western Division crowns and NCAA appearances in 2011 and 2012... Earned his second All-SEC selection with a 1st Team honor in 2012... Three time ITA Scholar Athlete and SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree... Named ITA Southern Regional Player of the Year in 2012... Earned Second Team Capital One Academic All-America honors in 2012... Became MSU's 19th All-American in 2012.
SENIOR (2011-12)
Put together a 17-9 record in singles action, including a remarkable 9-2 SEC record playing at the No. 1 position... Garnered seven wins against ranked opponents throughout the season... Compiled a 15-5 record in doubles with teammate George Coupland, en route to an NCAA Championship appearance...
FALL - Did not compete in the fall campaign.
SPRING - Did not receive a ranking due to not competing in the fall... Began the spring season with a 4-2 showing with only two losses coming against top 30 opponents and a defeat of 27th ranked Marcel Theimann of Ole Miss, which propelled him back into the national rankings at 71st... Won his two matches against top 40 opponents at the Blue Gray Classic, which slingshot himself to the 27th ranked player in the nation... Upset 3rd ranked Will Spencer in straight sets on March 9th... Defeated 14th ranked Nik Scholtz to help propel the Bulldogs to a 4-3 victory and claiming to Western Division crown for a second-straight season and moving him to 10th ranked nationally... Garnered victories against 37th-ranked Ben McLachlan of California and No. 45 Jonas Lutjen of Ole Miss to advance to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championships... Defeated every ranked opponent faced during the season, including two wins over top 10 opponents... Clinched the doubles point by defeating 10th-ranked Mikelis Libietis and Hunter Reese of Tennessee, helping lead their team to a quarterfinals victory against the Volunteers in the SEC Tournament...Earned a bid in the 2012 NCAA Individuals... Finished the season ranked 13th in singles and 27th in doubles, along with teammate George Coupland.
JUNIOR (2010-11):
Tallied a 19-11 record in singles and 18-12 in doubles during an impressive junior campaign... Ranked as high as 53rd (singles) and 33rd (doubles)... Was a major contributor in the Bulldogs' SEC Western Division title and the program's 20th NCAA Championship appearance... Earned Second Team All-SEC honors as well as being named an ITA Scholar Athlete and SEC Academic Honor Roll honoree.
FALL - Entered the fall ranked 79th in singles and 11th in doubles, but a minor injury setback the juniors start to his fall season where he picked up two singles wins and four in doubles... After battling injury played in his first tournament of the fall at the ITA Southern Regional Championships and picked up a pair of victories in singles... Advanced to the finals and earned a runner up finish along with teammate George Coupland in doubles while picking up four-straight victories.
SPRING - Began the spring season with an impressive 11-3 ledger with only three losses coming to opponents ranked in the top 50 nationally which slingshot himself to being ranked 53rd on Feb. 14... Helped MSU achieve a pair of 7-0 victories to open the home season followed by a 4-1 start in SEC play... Upset 69th ranked Neal Skupski of LSU on the road in a Bulldog victory... In doubles opened the spring ranked 53rd nationally with teammate George Coupland... Playing with freshman Zach White Ilyushin and White started the SEC season a perfect 3-0.
SOPHOMORE (2009-10):
After an impressive first year with the Bulldogs in which he was named to the freshman all-SEC team, did not disappoint in sophomore season, earning 12 dual wins in singles and seven conference wins in doubles.
FALL - Entered the fall ranked 83rd nationally and won 67 percent of his matches, totaling eight wins, three of which came over ranked opponents... Began the season with four straight victories, three of which came over ranked opponents, and earned Co-Champion honors at the Gator Invitational... Advanced to the quarterfinals of the ITA Southern Regional, falling to teammate George Coupland... Won a team-high nine matches in doubles competition... Along with Coupland, the duo compiled an 8-2 record that included an upset bid over Stanford's 31st-ranked doubles team and a semifinal showing at the ITA Southern Regionals... Claimed a team-high nine win in doubles action... Was a perfect 3-0 in tiebreaker situations.
SPRING - Began the spring ranked 125th and held the ranking until Feb. 18... Totaled 12 dual match victories including victories in three of the final four matches of the season... Earned conference wins against Auburn, South Carolina and Vanderbilt... Was the match-clinching point for MSU against Harvard in the Harvard Kickoff Tournament... Finished the season ranked 110th in singles... Teamed up with classmate George Coupland in doubles, in which the tandem earned a berth to the 2010 NCAA Championship after totaling a 12-8 dual match victory... Was an impressive 6-4 against ranked opponents, including takedowns of two top 10 opponents... Earned seven conference victories... Won eight of 11 matches to earn a 30th place national rank and finished the season ranked 26th in the country.
FRESHMAN (2008-09):
Arrived on campus in the spring and quickly made his mark not only in the Bulldog lineup but also nationally.
SPRING - Opened the home schedule with three straight wins from the #3 position as a true freshman... Posted a 6-5 mark at the #2 spot for the Bulldogs going .500 in dual match action as a true freshman, while also picking up four SEC wins as a rookie for the Maroon and White... 3-1 in battles that lasted three sets and went 5-3 in tiebreaker situations... Was the match-clinching point twice, with his first coming at home against the Memphis Tigers from the #3 position over Tiger Charlie Ramsay in two sets, followed with a match deciding victory in three sets over the Arkansas Razorbacks' Chris Nott at Arkansas... Tallied an impressive win over 14th-ranked Alex Lacroix, in a three set bout...Reached as high as 89th nationally in the ITA standings as a true freshman and spent majority of the spring season ranked among the national elite... Was named to the freshman all-SEC squad upon his first year with the Maroon and White... Posted a .500 mark in doubles action as a true freshman for MSU.
PRE-MSU:
Attended Garmonia High School in Granite Bay, Calif. ... Ranked as one of the top 10 junior players in the U.S. and reached as high as #86 in the world rankings... Came to Mississippi State ranked #3 on tennisrecruiting.net.
