HIGH SCHOOL: Named the 2013 Alabama Sportswriters Association Class 1A Pitcher of the Year • One of 18 players named to the 2013 USA Today All-USA Alabama Team • Fanned 71 batters in 56 2/3 innings as a senior in 2013, recording a 0.99 ERA • Also named all-area MVP in 2013, while earning all-county and all-area team honors from 2009-12 • Struck out 70 hitters in 53 1/3 innings with a 1.68 ERA as a junior • K’d 72 batters with a 2.30 ERA in 73 innings pitched as a sophomore after making his high school debut as a freshman with 76 strikeouts in 88 innings • Played football as well, being awarded all-county and all-area MVP honors from 2010-12, including all-state accolades in 2010.
PERSONAL: Born Levi Hunter Mintz on Aug. 19, 1994 in Rome, Georgia • Son of Katrina Hunter and Bobby Mintz • Went on a mission trip in 2013 to the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas, where he and six members of the MSU baseball program joined 19 others in building houses and putting on baseball clinics for the youth on the island • Majoring in biomedical engineering.
