2014: Redshirted his freshman year on campus • Played summer ball for the Danbury Westerners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.
High School: Has been clocked at 92 MPH • Rated the number three left-handed pitcher in the state of Alabama by national scouting service Perfect Game • 2013 Southeast All-Region Second-Team member • 2012 Perfect Game Honorable Mention Underclass All-American • Named 2012 Class 2A Pitcher of the Year and earned all-state honors in all four of his high school seasons • MVP of the 2012 North-South All-Star Game • Went 7-4 as a senior after going a perfect 10-0 with a 1.24 ERA and 109 strikeouts as a junior in 73 innings pitched • Chose Mississippi State over Ole Miss, Kentucky, Tennessee and Samford.

Irby, who pitched against MSU in the 2012 NCAA Tallahassee Regional, was taken with the fourth pick in the 10th round of the 2013 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins. • Majoring in biological sciences with a concentration in pre-med.
