2013: Saw action in six games his freshman campaign, earning a flawless 0.00 ERA in 7.1 innings of relief • Held opponents to a .200 batting average, striking out five, walking two and surrendering five hits during the stretch • Made his collegiate debut Feb. 17 in the second game of a doubleheader sweep vs. Portland, pitching an inning in a 6-0 victory • Came back a week later and recorded his first strikeout in one stanza of work vs. Samford • Pitched one frame in a 13-2 win against Rhode Island at home Feb. 26 • Tossed a career-high 2.0 innings in a 10-0 home triumph vs. Saint Joseph’s March 1, striking out a career-best two batters • Tied his career high by fanning a pair four days later in a 14-2 win vs. Mississippi Valley State • Made his last appearance of the season March 9 vs. Central Arkansas, tossing a scoreless 1.1 innings of relief • Member of the 2013 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll • Played for the San Luis Obispo Blues of the California League in summer ball.
HIGH SCHOOL: Four-year standout as a shortstop and pitcher at St. George’s Independent School • Played for head coach Andy Scott • First-team all-state, all-metro Memphis, 2012 Commercial Appeal’s Best of Preps and Rawlings Southeast All-Region as a senior • Fashioned a 7-1 record with 91 strikeouts and a 1.78 ERA in 58-1/3 innings of pitching • Established school mark for strikeouts, including a school-best 16 in a single game • Averaged 11.1 strikeouts per game and limited opposing hitters to .127 hitting, also a school mark • Hit .437 with 47 RBIs while setting school records with 53 hits, 17 doubles and four triples • Rated No. 1 by Perfect Game among Tennessee’s Class of 2012 prospects and No. 169 nationally • Wendy’s High School Heisman at SGIS and runner-up for 2012 Tennessee Gatorade Player of the Year • Hit .408 with 48 RBIs and posted a 2-1 pitching mark with two saves and a 1.50 ERA as a junior • Prep classmate of MSU redshirt sophomore Preston Brown • Played summer league ball for Dulin’s Dodgers, coached by Tim Dulin, the same program which produced three-time MLB All-Star and two-time World Series Champion Matt Cain • Multi-year honor roll student at St. George’s.
