2013: Named to the All-SEC Second Team in a vote by the league’s 14 head baseball coaches after hitting .336 in 30 conference games (28 starts) • Inside SEC play, recorded 23 RBIs, 16 runs, nine walks and seven doubles • Overall hit .310 in 68 games played (60 starts), registering 40 runs, 33 RBIs, 20 walks, nine doubles, nine stolen bases, two triples and two homer • Reached base in 60 of his 67 total games with plate appearances, including reaching base safely in a team season-best 43-consecutive games • The streak was snapped on the last game of the season vs. UCLA June 25 in the NCAA CWS Championship Series • During the streak, reached base 34 times via a base knock, five due to a walk and four as a hit batsman • Ended his SEC season with a 24-game on-base streak • Member of the 2013 College World Series All-Tournament Team after raking at a .412 clip (7-for-17) in five starts with four runs scored • Also named to the NCAA Starkville Regional All-Tournament squad after going 5-for-16 (.313) with three RBIs, three runs, a triple and a walk in four starts • Broke the single-season school record for assists by a second baseman with 185, passing Scott Davidson’s record of 181 set in 1994 • Tied a single-season school record by getting hit by a pitch 20 times • Part of an infield that turned a school-record 80 double plays (second nationally) • Drove in the game-winning run in a team-best six games: April 20 vs. Auburn, April 23 at Memphis, May 16 vs. South Carolina, May 23 vs. Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament, June 1 vs. South Alabama in the NCAA Starkville Regional and June 3 vs. Central Arkansas in the NCAA Starkville Regional • Recorded a hit in 44 of 71 games, with multiple hits in 21 of those contests • Tallied RBIs in 25 of 71 games played (second-highest total on team), including eight multiple-RBI games • Cranked out his first dinger of the season March 5 vs. Mississippi Valley State, finishing 2-for-4 with an RBI, run scored and a double • Hit another round-tripper March 15 vs. LSU and wrapped up the three-game series against the No. 2 Tigers 4-for-10 (.400) with three RBIs and three runs scored • Swiped a career-high two bases vs. Austin Peay March 26 at home, going 2-for-3 with a double, walk, two runs and an RBI • Raked at a .417 clip (5-for-12) in the three-game home series against Florida April 5-7, driving in a pair, doubling once, walking once and scoring a run • Notched his best game of the season April 23 at Memphis, collecting career highs with four hits and three runs, falling a home run short of the cycle • Hit .600 (6-for-10) the following weekend at No. 2 Vanderbilt April 26-28, collecting two RBIs, a run and a double • Finished the regular season going 5-for-11 (.455) at home against No. 12 South Carolina May 16-18, driving in four and scoring twice • Along with Adam Frazier, tied the MSU single-game school record with eight at-bats in a 17-inning game May 21 vs. Missouri in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala. • Came back the next day in Hoover to record a career-best two doubles vs. the Gamecocks, finishing 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored • Went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs in a win vs. Texas A&M May 23 • In all, tallied a season-long nine-game hitting streak May 11-23, going 14-for-39 (.359) at the dish with seven RBIs and seven runs scored during the span • Had two hits in five-straight games during the streak (May 17-23), with three of those games coming during the SEC Tournament • Member of the 2013 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll • Played for Wareham Gateman of the Cape Cod League in summer ball.
JUNIOR COLLEGE: Switch-hitting middle infielder at Panola College • Coached by Todd Shelton • Started 50 of 52 games and hit .222 with 20 RBIs • Posted a .345 slugging percentage with nine doubles and a team-best four home runs • Drew a team-leading 33 walks and 13 HBPs • Hit .325 with 63 hits and 12 RBIs in 55 games as a freshman • Selected to play in the 2011 Texas-New Mexico Junior College All-Star Game • Hit .314 in 2012 summer league baseball competition with the Hoptown Hoppers of the Ohio Valley League.
HIGH SCHOOL: Three-year starter and four-time letter man as a shortstop and second baseman at Lee High School in Tyler Texas • Coached at TLHS by his father, Mike Pirtle, a member of the East Texas Baseball Hall of Honor • Earned Second-Team American Baseball Coaches Association honors as a senior • Hit .431 with 30 RBIs for the Red Raiders, setting a school record with 56 hits and 22 doubles • Finished with 28 extra-base hits and 13 stolen bases as a senior in 2010 • Texas High School 5A/4A All-Star Game selection and Second-Team Texas 5A All-State pick • Honor Roll student and member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes • Played summer league baseball with the DBAT Mustangs, coached by Kermit Dow, and the Dallas Patriots, coached by Logan Stoudt.
