Cohen, Pitta Set To Play At Samford

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Emma Cohen and Athina Pitta are set to represent Mississippi State at Samford's Round Robin #2 tournament.

The three-day tournament starts on Friday with MSU taking the courts against host Samford, Central Arkansas, Jacksonville State, Troy and UAB over the weekend.

Cohen and Pitta are competing for the second time this fall. Pitta, a sophomore, is looking to continue her momentum after picking up a singles and doubles victory at the Debbie Southern Fall Classic last month.

Cohen also earned her first career doubles triumph during that event playing alongside Jayna Clemens. Friday will mark the freshman's first time teaming up with Pitta.

Cohen and Pitta will partner with six players from Troy during the round robin weekend. The Bulldog/Trojan combination will square off against seven players from Jacksonville State and one from Samford starting with doubles on Friday at 10 a.m.

Later that afternoon at 1 p.m., the Mississippi State duo plays singles against homestanding Samford. Individual match draws for singles and doubles will be selected on Friday morning.
