Cohen, Pitta Pick Up Wins On Friday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State's Emma Cohen and Athina Pitta each picked up wins on the first day of Samford's Round Robin #2 tournament on Friday.
Cohen and Pitta teamed up for the first time this season to take down Jacksonville State's tandem of Aneka Patel and Ella Tuomela 6-3.
Pitta continued her hot streak later that afternoon by rallying back to defeat Sara Erenda of Samford 3-6, 6-3, 1-0[1].
Cohen and Pitta will partner again with six players from Troy to face off against six players from Central Arkansas and two UAB players in doubles action on Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.
The MSU pair will play singles alongside the Trojans against a combination of seven competitors from Jacksonville State and one from Samford starting at 11 a.m. Individual match draws for singles and doubles play will be selected on Saturday morning.
