Cohen Closes Out The Weekend With A Win

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Mississippi State freshman Emma Cohen closed out the weekend with a singles win at the Samford Round Robin #2 on Sunday.

Cohen collected her second-consecutive singles victory by cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win over UAB's Maria Paz Ospina.

Cohen and partner Athina Pitta posted a 2-1 doubles record together during the tournament. The pair also went 2-1 individually during singles play to leave the three-day event with six total victories.

"It was a good weekend overall for Emma and Athina," said assistant coach Noah Tippen. "There were several positives that we will build on and some negatives that we will be able to keep working through. Emma getting her first-career singles wins were huge and she's starting to come into form every match she plays. There was a lot will be able to carry from this weekend into regionals later this week."

The Bulldogs return to Alabama later this week for the ITA Southern Regionals in Auburn beginning on Thursday.
