Bulldogs Tally 20 Top-5 Finishes Friday At Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays

STARKVILLE – A total of 20 top-5 finishes was the story for Mississippi State on day one of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays at the Mike Sanders Track Complex.
Bulldogs won four events in which they competed on Friday, while seven personal-best marks were set in the first day of MSU's outdoor season opener.
Logan Boss returned to action for her final season at MSU by taking the women's high jump crown with a clearance of 1.75m (5-8.75). In the men's high jump, Reggie Miller finished second with a mark of 2.10m (6-10.75).
Alexis Farley set a personal best in the women's triple jump, leaping 13.02m (42-8.75) to win the event. Gralyn Jones placed third in the men's triple jump with a mark of 14.94m (49-0.25).
In the women's sprint medley relay, the Bulldog tandem of Shayla Felder, Riley White, Alon Lewis and Charlotte Cayton-Smith won with a time of 3:53.73, which ranks fourth in MSU outdoor history. Lewis now holds nine top-5 spots in MSU outdoor history, just two behind Bulldog great Erica Bougard.
Three Bulldogs finished in the top five of the women's 1500m, led by Mia Meydrich's second-place finish in 4:30.82. Shannon Fair placed third with a personal-best time of 4:34.14, while Sylvia Russell ran 4:35.42 to finish fourth.
The men's 5000m saw four Bulldogs post personal bests, with Luke Zacharias (15:07.42), Blake Beavers (15:21.11), Benjamin Craw (15:21.39) and Zach Weaver (15:25.21) all posting the top times of their outdoor careers.
In the women's 5000m, Carly Terp clocked a personal-best 18:00.76 to place fifth in the event.
Tiffany Flynn returned to the track after not competing last outdoor season and placed second in the 100m hurdles with a time of 13.65. Zaria Tillman placed fifth, running 14.13.
Malcum Tatum placed second in the men's 800m, while Giacomo DeLuca placed fifth in the men's 1500m in his MSU outdoor debut. In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Stephen Jones placed second to lead five Bulldog men, running 9:06.18 to rank fourth in MSU outdoor history.
MSU's men's 4x200m team of Okheme Moore, Terryon Conwell, Karson Kowalchuk and Cameron Crump captured a first-place finish, clocking 1:23.61 to take the event.
Day two of the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays begins at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday with the women's javelin, followed by the men's javelin, featuring two of the last three NCAA champions in Anderson Peters (2018) and Curtis Thompson (2016). Admission to the meet is free.
