2021 Outdoor Season

Came in 18th in the 200m at a new best of 21.83 and came in 14th in the 400m at the Bulldog Relays (3/26-27) ... At the Florida Relays, he finished in 30th in the 200m and 19th in the 400m, while also running a leg of the seventh-place 4x400m relay (4/2-3) ... Ran a leg of the second-place 4x400m relay as well as finished in eighth in the 400m at the War Eagle Invitational (4/17) ... At the SEC Championships he ran in the 400m prelims, finishing in 47.95, a season best, in 19th; also ran a leg of the eighth-place 4x400m relay (5/14).

Ran on the seventh-place 4x400m relay team at the Al Schmidt Bulldog Relays (3/22) where he also ran the 800m … Posted an MSU-career-best 49.59 in the 400m at the Crimson Tide Invitational (4/12) … Finished the 400m in 50.27 at the LSU Alumni Gold (4/20) … Clocked a season-best 49.32 in the 400m at the Southern Miss Open (4/27).

Opened the season with a fourth-place finish at the Wes Kittley Invitational (3/23), running the 400m in 47.33 … Part of the fifth-place 4x400m relay team that finished in 3:08.23 at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (3/28) … Placed 10^th in the 400m at the David Noble Relays (4/5) … Clocked a wind-aided 22.10 in the 200m and a season-best 47.21 to take third in the 400m at the Ross Black Open (4/14) … Won the 4x400m relay and was second in the open 400m at the West Texas A&M Invitational (4/22) … Took sixth in the 400m at the Masked Rider Invite (5/5) … Competed at the NJCAA Championships (5/17) where he won a bronze medal as part of the 4x400m relay and placed 11^th in the 400m.

Turned in a personal-best 1:57.40 to place third in the 800m at the Red and Black Open (1/26) and finished second in the 4x400m relay to open the year … Ran on the distance medley relay team that placed fourth at the Charlie Thomas Invitational (2/2) while also running the 400m … Ran a personal-best 48.22 in the 400m at the Tyson Invitational (2/9) … Won the 4x400m relay and finished second in the 400m at the Matador Qualifier (2/16) … Took second in the 4x400m relay at the NJCAA Championships (3/2) while placing fourth in the 600m with a personal-best 1:18.14.

2017 Outdoor Season (at South Plains CC)

Made his outdoor debut by winning the 4x400m relay and placing third in the 400m at the UTEP Springtime (3/25) … Part of the 4x400m relay that placed third at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays (3/29) … Clocked in at 48.42 in the 400m at the David Noble Relays (4/6) … Took third with a personal-best time of 47.16 in the 400m at the Ross Black Open (4/15) … Finished second in the 4x400m relay and ran the open 400m at the John Jacobs Invitational (4/21) … Won the 4x400m relay at the Wildcat Open (4/27) where he also ran a wind-aided personal-best of 21.86 in the 200m … Placed fifth in the 400m at the Masked Rider Invite (5/6) … Won a silver medal in the 4x400m relay at the NJCAA Championships (5/18) where he also finished 11^th in the 400m.

2017 Indoor Season (at South Plains CC)

Made his collegiate debut at the Sooner Open (1/14) where he ran the 600-yard in 1:13.26 and his team won the 4x440-yard relay … Competed in the 400m and the 4x400m and distance medley relays at the Charlie Thomas Invitational (2/3) where his relay teams finished fifth and sixth … Ran the 800m and the 4x400m relay at the Tyson Invitational (2/10) … Finished third in the 600m at the NMJC Indoor Invitational (2/17) … Competed in the 600m and 4x400m and distance medley relays at the NJCAA Championships (3/3), earning top-five finishes in all three.

Before the Bulldogs

Attended South Plains Community College in Lubbock, Texas … Competed at Wayne Memorial High School where he ran the 200m, 400m and 800m … Was a three-time all-state selection … Won the 2016 state championship in the 400m … Holds the school and state records in the 400m … Was named Team MVP four times and served as a captain all four years … Named the team’s Most Improved Athlete in 2014 and 2016 … Also ran for Intensity Track Club and was a seven-time All-American and national qualifier … Placed fourth at the 2016 Indoor New Balance Nationals, running the 400m in 47.99 … Finished third at the 2016 Outdoor New Balance Nationals in the 400m with a time of 46.66 … Took second in the 400m at the 2016 Midwest Meet of Champions with a state record time.

Born Montel Douglas Hood on Oct. 9, 1997 to Nathan Hood and Antoinette Booze-Battle … Has a brother, Antoine Battle, and two sisters, Anavia Hood and Mintoria Battle … Graduated in April of 2021 with his Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.
