
Bulldogs Look To Carry Momentum Into The Schenkel

STATESBORO, Ga. – After finishing tied for third its last time out, Mississippi State men's golf will spend the weekend at the prestigious Schenkel Invitational in Statesboro, Ga.
The three-day tournament begins Friday at the Par-72, 6,962-yard Forest Heights Country Club and is hosted by Georgia Southern.
"The Schenkel is one of my favorite events of the year. The community does a fantastic job supporting the tournament," MSU head men's golf coach Dusty Smith said. "This is our next step and another opportunity for us to grow as a team."
First round play is set to begin with a 9 a.m. tee time, as play will continue through Sunday with a round each day.
Taylor Grant returns to Dusty Smith's lineup card, in the second spot, after finishing tied for fourth and sinking a hole-in-one at the Tiger Invitational. The senior has competed in all seven of State's tournaments to this point.
Sophomores Peng Pichaikool and Garrett Johnson also return for their eighth tournament, while senior Taylor Bibbs and Cameron Clarke fill out the final spots.
The 14-team event includes three more SEC teams, Florida, Kentucky and Vanderbilt. UAB, College of Charleston, East Tennessee State, Georgia State, Iowa, Minnesota, NC State, Notre Dame, Richmond and host Georgia Southern make up the rest of the field.
State has the first tee time, with a 7:51 a.m. CT start. Live stats will be available all three rounds via Golfstat.
