2017: After being selected in the 38th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Minnesota Twins, returned for the 2017 season and in the 2017 MLB Draft became the 14th Diamond Dawg to be picked in the first round (35th overall pick by the Minnesota Twins) • Was named a National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball • Became the first Diamond Dawg to be named Southeastern Conference Player of the Year • Was named a First Team All-American by D1 Baseball, NCBWA, Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball and Perfect Game and ABCA All-South Region First Team • Dick Howser Trophy Finalist and Golden Spikes Award Finalist • First Team All-SEC • Won the Ferriss Trophy Winner (Best amateur baseball player in the state of Mississippi) • Earned SEC Player of the Week honors three times, including back-to-back weeks (Feb. 27, April 3 & April 10) • NCBWA National Hitter of the Week - Feb. 28 & April 11 • Was named NCBWA Player of the Month for March • A two-time Collegiate Baseball National Player of the Week (Feb. 27 & April 10) • Was named Player of the Week by Perfect Game/Rawlings on April 11 • Leads the SEC in eight offensive categories – batting average, hits, slugging percentage on-base percentage, hits, doubles, home runs and total bases • Became the first player in SEC history to record 20 home runs, 30 doubles and 75 RBIs in a single season and the first Division I player to join the club since Clemson’s Khali Green in 2002 • Tallied 33 multi-hit games and 21 multi-RBI games, including three four-hit games and five games with five or more RBIs • His 23 home runs were the most by a Bulldog since 1985 when Will Clark hit 25 • Drove in eight runs against Indiana State on Feb. 24, making him the first time a Bulldog has driven in that many since 2010 • The week of April 3, went 9-for-19 (.474) at the plate with 3 HR, 4 2B and 14 RBI • Earned his second SEC Player of the Week honors of the year after going 7-for-17 (.412) at the plate, with all hits being for extra bases (5 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR) and five RBIs • Went 4-for-4 with three homers and six RBI against Kentucky on April 8 • From April 4-9, went 10-for-16 (.625) with six homers, 13 RBI and 10 runs scored en route to being named SEC Player of the Week for the third time and the first back-to-back POW since 2008 • Went 9-for-21 at the plate with 3 HR, 3 doubles and 6 RBIs the week of April 25-29 • Became the MSU single-season leader for doubles with his 28th on May 20 and finished the year with 30.
2016: Played in 58 of the team’s 63 games, drawing the starting nod 53 times and spent time in the outfield and as the designated hitter • Hit a career-best .324 with 11 homers and 54 RBI, both team highs as a redshirt sophomore • Slugged a team-best .578 • Earned second team All-SEC honors • Garnered ABCA South All-Region honors • Went 3-for-4 with two homers, three RBI and a pair of runs scored in Game 2 of the NCAA Starkville Super Regional against Arizona on June 11 • Went 1-for-2 with two RBI in a win against Louisiana Tech in the NCAA Starkville Regional final on June 5 • On June 3 against Southeast Missouri, went 2-for-4 with a pair of dingers and four RBI in the Bulldog victory • On May 14 at Auburn, went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBI • On May 5 against Missouri, went 3-for-5 with a solo homer • In a 12-5 series-opening victory at Alabama on April 28, hit a three-run bomb in the top of the ninth • Went 2-for-4 with a triple against Texas A&M on April 17 • Scored the game-winning run at top-ranked Florida on April 10 to help the Bulldogs clinch the series win • On April 8 in the series-opening win at Florida, went 2-for-3 with a run scored • Earned SEC Player of the Week honors on March 14 after going 7-for-12 the week before • Went 6-for-11 with two homers, five RBI and four runs in the series sweep against then-10th ranked Oregon March 11-13 • As a pinch-hitter on March 8 against South Alabama, hit the game-winning two-RBI double in the sixth inning • Against Nicholls State on Feb. 28, went 2-for-5 with three RBI and a double • Against South Dakota State on Feb. 20, went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs scored and a double • On Opening Day against Florida Atlantic on Feb. 19, went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored • Voted as a team captain by his teammates prior to the 2016 campaign • Took part in the 2016 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby in Omaha, Nebraska on June 3 • Played summer ball in the Cape Cod League for the Brewster Whitecaps alongside Diamond Dawg teammates Ryan Gridley and Konnor Pilkington • Named a CCBL All Star • Played in 36 games, owning a .303 clip with eight doubles, three homers and 22 RBI.
2015: Played in 34 of the team’s 54 games, making 18 starts at designated hitter and two in left field • Hit .257 in 74 at-bats overall, tallying 12 RBIs, 10 runs, seven walks, three doubles and two home runs • Raised his average 40 points in 15 SEC games, hitting .297 in 37 at-bats • Team went 8-3 when he hit cleanup • Recorded four multi-hit games and had two contests with multiple RBIs • Led the team with four hits in 14 at-bats as a pinch hitter (.286) • Ended his debut campaign with a 2 for 3 performance May 15 at Tennessee, tying a season high with two runs scored • Started his first career game in left field May 14 in the series opener against the Volunteers • Went 2 for 3 May 7 at Ole Miss, before going 1 for 2 the next day against the Rebels • Singled and walked April 30 vs. No. 1 LSU • Recorded an RBI single to center April 24 at No. 25 Arkansas • Went 3 for 5 with a double and a run scored in two appearances against No. 6 Florida April 18-19 • Singled and scored a run at top-ranked Texas A&M April 12 • Belted a two-run home run Feb. 21 vs. Marshall in the second game of a doubleheader • Recorded season highs in at-bats (5), runs (2), hits (3), RBIs (5), doubles (1) and home runs (1) Feb. 21 in game one of the double dip against Alabama A&M • The five RBIs tied for the most by a Bulldog in a single game in 2015, while the homer was the first of his career • Collected a pinch-hit RBI single Feb. 20 in the win against the Thundering Herd • Tallied his first career hit, double, walk and run scored Feb. 15 in the 16-7 win vs. Cincinnati • Became the first freshman to start in the cleanup spot on Opening Day in the last decade • Played summer ball for the Plymouth Pilgrims in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, before being promoted to the Brewster Whitecaps and finishing the summer in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League • Named 2015 NECBL MVP and was the recipient of the 2015 NECBL Most Improved Player Award • Starting outfielder for the South Division in the NECBL All-Star Game • Also participated in the NECBL Home Run Derby • Earned First-Team All-NECBL honors • Ranked first in the NECBL in at-bats (164), hits (59), runs scored (36), home runs (10), RBIs (33) and slugging percentage (.604), while finishing third in batting average (.360) and games played (41) as well as tied for eighth in stolen bases (12) • Also drew 15 walks and cranked out 10 doubles • Named the second-best MLB prospect in the NECBL by Baseball America and Perfect Game • Appeared in four games in the CCBL, tallying three hits, two RBIs, two walks, two runs, a double, triple and a home run • Member of the SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.
2014: Redshirted his freshman year on campus • Played summer ball for the Plymouth Pilgrims in the New England Collegiate Baseball League • Finished in the top five of the league in home runs and participated in the NECBL Home Run Derby • Member of the 2014 SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2013 Rawlings Southeast Region Honorable Mention • 2012 Perfect Game Underclassmen Honorable Mention All-American • Participated in the 2013 Power Showcase at MLB’s Miami Marlins ballpark, raising money for Ingram Dismuke, a Germantown, Tennessee, child with a rare form of brain cancer known as anaplastic ependymoma • 2013 Tennessee Player of the Year finalist • Earned all-state honors from 2011-13, winning a state championship in 2011 and 2013 • Rated a top-100 third base prospect in the country by national scouting service Perfect Game, including the fourth-best third base prospect in Tennessee • 2013 FCA Memphis Chapter Athlete of the Year • Set the state tournament record for home runs in a game and home runs in a tournament • Hit .430 with 37 runs, 32 RBIs, 23 stolen bases and nine home runs as a senior • As a junior, raked at a .450 clip with 39 RBIs, 27 runs and 19 stolen bases • Recorded 45 RBIs, 32 runs and seven homers as a sophomore when he hit .380 in 29 games • Timed at 4.65 in the 40-yard dash and recorded a 36-inch vertical jump • Chose Mississippi State over a scholarship offer from Memphis and interest from Tennessee and Samford • Led ECS to the Division 2-A State Championship Game and piled up more than 3,300 yards of total offense with 33 touchdowns in football • A 2013 Tennessee Mr. Football finalist after setting 18 school records • Also started on the ECS basketball team which finished as a state finalist as well.
