OPELIKA, Ala. – Mississippi State's men's golf program will travel to the par-72 Grand National course in Opelika, Alabama, to face a 15-team field at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Auburn.
The Bulldogs will tee off against seven ranked opponents including No. 6 Texas A&M, No. 14 Vanderbilt, host, No. 16 Auburn, No. 20 Tennessee, No. 21 Arkansas, No. 23 Arkansas State and No. 24 LSU.
"We look forward to another great week ahead of us," head coach Dusty Smith said. "This week will again be on a very good course against some great competition. We look to capitalize on the preparation we put into this event, not only on the physical side, but most importantly, on the mental side."
State last joined the lineup for the annual event in the 2017-18 season where it placed third as a team. Former Bulldog Taylor Grant led the team consisting of Peng Pichaikool, Garrett Johnson, Cameron Clarke and Ross Bell.
Smith's new starting-5 for the tournament again includes Garrett Johnson with the additions of Ford Clegg, Loïc Ettlin, Hunter Logan and Austin Fulton. Austin Vukovits will also travel and compete as an individual.
"This team is hungry and eager to get back out and compete," Smith said. I know we have to do a great job of playing Mississippi State golf and trusting out preparation if we want to be successful. We must continue to understand our identity as individual players and as a team."
State will tee off Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. CT on hole 10 in a shotgun start due to inclement weather and aim to complete 36 holes. Tuesday and Wednesdays' pairings will be determined based on tournament standings.
