MSU To Face In-State Rival Ole Miss on ESPNU Wednesday

STARKVILLE, Miss. — With the first weekend of SEC play this season under its belt, Mississippi State (9-8, 0-2 SEC) prepares for a mid-week matchup against in-state rival Ole Miss (10-5, 1-1 SEC) on Wednesday.
The match will be broadcasted on ESPNU with first serve set for 8 p.m. CT. Fans can also access the match on the WatchESPN app.
"We're looking forward to getting back home to The Griss, and playing a home match against Ole Miss on ESPNU," third-year coach David McFatrich said. "They are led by two senior outside hitters, and they run a 6-2 offense. We faced a 6-2 offense against Tennessee. They are a good, solid, well-coached team."
Under McFatrich's leadership, Mississippi State is 3-0 against Ole Miss. Payton Harris could clench the all-time digs record Wednesday, as she is 23 shy of the feat.

MSU Welcomes In-State Rival Ole Miss for First Nationally Televised Match of the Season ...
The Bulldogs welcome Ole Miss for the third SEC match of the season. This is the 96th meeting between the two teams. Since coach David McFatrich's arrival, MSU has not lost to Ole Miss. The Rebels hold a 69-26 advantage in the series. In Starkville, the Rebels lead 25-15.

After the first weekend of SEC play, Ole Miss is now 10-5 (1-1 SEC). They faced Auburn (21-25, 25-19, 17-25, 26-28) and Alabama (18-25, 25-21, 26-24, 25-22).
Lexi Thompson and Emily Stroup stand out on the combined stat sheets. Thompson has 195 kills, 204 digs and 215.5 points this season. Stroup has 191 kills, averages 3.18 kills per set and has 214.5 points on the year.

A deciding factor for the Bulldogs this season is within the first two sets. MSU is 6-0 when winning the first two sets, and is 0-4 when losing the first two. When splitting the two, the Dawgs are 3-4.

Sara Maddox completed her first collegiate game at SMU with a career-high 25 kills. Currently, she has 153 kills and 164.5 points.

- Airbrush T-shirt's will be given out to the first 250 fans. These shirts will be redeemed after the game with a voucher. The shirts can be picked up at the marketing table at the conclusion of the game.
