STARKVILLE, Miss. – 17 current and four future Mississippi State Bulldogs are continuing their growth and development by participating in summer baseball leagues across the country. The 21 Diamond Dawgs span nine leagues and 13 teams.

Friday-night starter Konnor Pilkington continues his summer with the United States Baseball Collegiate Baseball Team and has compiled a 2.77 ERA in 13.0 innings pitched, over three starts and four appearances. Pilkington's next and final start of the summer is expected to come on Friday, July 14 vs. Japan at Campanelli Stadium in Brockton, Mass.
After swinging a red-hot bat the previous week, Hunter Vansau was named the West Coast League Player of the Week on Monday. Vansau went 11-for-21 (.524) for the week with 8 runs scored, a double, triple, 3 stolen bases, 3 homers and 12 RBIs. Later in the day, Vansau was named a West Coast League All-Star and will represent the North on Monday, July 17 at Yakima County Stadium in Yakima, Washington.
Jake Mangum leads the Hyannis Harbor Hawks with a .371 (26-for-70) batting average in the Cape Cod League and has also notched three doubles, seven RBIs and 10 runs scored in 17 games.
Luke Alexander is also succeeding at the plate in the Cape as he's hitting .306 (15-for-49) through 17 games with the Cotuit Kettleers and is currently riding a 10-game hit streak. The Bulldog third baseman has driven in eight runs this summer and connected for his first home run of the summer on Saturday.
