Pichaikool Paces MSU On Day One Of SEC Championship

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – Freshman Peng Pichaikool played with the poise of a veteran as he led the Mississippi State men's golf team in Friday's opening two rounds of the SEC Championship at St. Simons Island, Ga.
The Bulldog rookie fired an even-par 70 in his championship debut, and he followed it with a second-round 71 to sit in a tie for 18th heading into Saturday's final round of stroke play.
Pichaikool and his MSU teammates finished the opening day in 14th with a 596.
In his SEC Championship appearance, Ross Bell stands in a tie for 50th after shooting a 36-hole total of 149.
Taylor Grant, who is playing in his third SEC Championship, carded a 153 on Friday at the Sea Island Golf Club to land in a tie for 62nd.
Senior Jackson Dick tied with Grant for 62nd after also shooting 153 on Friday.
Rounding out the Bulldog scorecard, freshman Garrett Johnson turned in a 159 sit in 70th place heading into Saturday.
No. 15 Texas A&M leads the team standings. Following Saturday's third round, the top eight teams will continue into match play format.
Florida's Aljandro Tosti sits atop the player's leaderboard.
MSU will tee off at 7:10 a.m. CST Saturday morning.
