MSU Concludes Weekend With Two More Victories
April 01, 2017 | Track & Field
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – All around, it was a fantastic athletics weekend for Mississippi State.
The MSU track program spent the weekend in Florida, and picked up seven top collegiate finishes at the loaded Florida Relays.
Saturday, the Bulldogs concluded the weekend's action with competing three field events and another eight running events.
The DMR has been one of the strongest aspects of the program since MSU coach Steve Dudley took over the program, and that trend continued on the weekend. The women's group of Emma Tucker, Keturah Smith, Alon Lewis and Rhianwedd Price ran the third best time in school history in the victory, posting a mark of 11:22.23. Three of the top five women's DMR times in school history have come in the last four seasons.
The men's DMR also ran well, with the squad of Stephen Jones, Josh Willingham, Daniel Nixon and Caden Foos posting a time of 9:59.26 in a second place finish.
MSU picked up another victory in the women's 100m shuttle hurdle relay, with Leah Lott, Tiffany Flynn, Shayla Broughton and Zaria Tillman posting a time of 53.82.
"This was a great weekend for our program," MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "The weather was great, and it was awesome to see our team pick up several victories at an event of this caliber. This was a great test for us, because many of the teams at this meet will be at nationals in June."
