Bulldogs Set For NCAA East First Rounds

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Mississippi State track and field is set to continue the postseason journey at the NCAA East First Rounds in Lexington, Kentucky.
State qualified 26 athletes to the penultimate meet of the track and field season, with competition spanning four days. The meet will feature only men's events on Wednesday and Friday, and women's on Thursday and Saturday.
Athletes will battle in their events to earn a top 12 finish, booking a ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships in June. The field events, outside of the vertical jumps, have a three-attempt preliminary with no final. The running events will have two rounds, with the top 12 finishers advancing to the national championship.
Of the men competing, four will be competing in their first NCAA East First Round, with nine making their debut. Tuomas Narhi, Roury McCloyen and Sam Navarro will look to compete in their second national championship.
The women will begin competition on Thursday, with seven athletes competing on the track and in the field. Marie Rougetet will look to compete in her second NCAA Championships, with Kaylee Clark and Mallory Streetman returning to the East Preliminary round.
Relays, field events and the second round of running events will be held on Friday for the men and Saturday for the women.
