TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – There literally was not a cloud in the sky as Mississippi State track and field began the Crimson Tide Invitational.
MSU competed in three events on Friday, starting with the women's hammer throw and moving on to both the men's and women's 5000m as the sun began to set.
Freshman Stephanie Peterson posted the best finish of the day, taking seventh in the 5000m with a time of 17:09.17. Kristy Terp was just behind Peterson, finishing 11th with a time of 17:23.19.
In the hammer throw, Brianna Smith tossed 54.45m in an eighth place finish. Freshman Madelyn Lee took 19th with a toss of 42.52m.
The final event of the day was the men's 5000m, with Pierce Rose finishing 23rd and Zach Weaver taking 27th.
"Although we only competed in a few events, it was good to get our feet wet at the meet." MSU coach Steve Dudley said. "We had several good performances today. We will come out tomorrow ready to get after it."
