Magic Number Down To Five ...
The countdown to a second-straight winning season is on for State. MSU's magic number is down to five, which would put the Dogs at 17 wins for the year. It would mark the second-straight winning season for just the third time in school history and first since 2005-06. Four more victories would assure at least a .500 finish to the season.
Moving Up The SEC Wins Chart…
A successful weekend could mean big things for the Bulldogs in terms of their history of wins in the SEC. One victory would move MSU to five conference wins on the year, tying for sixth on MSU's SEC wins chart. A weekend sweep would move State's total to six, tying last year's total and also tying for fourth-most in school history.
Winning The Attacking Battle Is Crucial ...
To say coming out on top in the hitting percentage battle is key for the Bulldogs may be an understatement. MSU is undefeated this year when out-hitting its opponent and is 1-15 when losing the attacking battle. MSU took down Tennessee in its SEC opener for its first win when losing the attacking battle, hitting .204 to the Volunteers' .278.
The First Set Is The Key ...
One early trend discovered with the 2016 Bulldogs lies within the first set. State is 10-5 when capturing the first set, but when 2-10 when unable to do so. Winning the first two sets almost assures the Bulldogs of victory, as they are 8-2 this year when doing so.
Another Top 20 Crowd At The Griss Last Weekend…
With 610 as the attendance on Friday against South Carolina, Mississippi State added another figure to its Top 20 crowds at Newell-Grissom. The 610 ranked 20th on the list and became the fourth 2016 crowd to crack the list this season. As it currently stands, eight of the Top 20 crowds in Newell-Grissom history have come during the David McFatrich era.
Singleton Continues Dominating Senior Campaign…
Evie Grace Singleton continues to put together one of the best seasons in MSU history. The senior's 13 kills on Sunday moved her seven spots up to fourth on the Bulldogs' single-season list for kills, as her 2016 total moved to 415. She is 28 away from third place, 32 from second and 98 from claiming the best season in school history.
A big part of her dominance has come in recent weeks, as she's tallied double-digit kills in 12 of the last 14 matches. She's also earned 20-plus kills in seven matches this year, besting her 2015 total of just one contest reaching that mark.
Johnson Tops On The Block…
Leading the way for MSU's impressive blocking game is senior Jazmyne Johnson, whose 116 total blocks have etched her name in the MSU record books. The 116 stands eighth for single-season blocks in school history and just three behind Ashley Newsome's 2009 total of 119.
Johnson is the first Bulldog since Lainey Wyman in 2011 to reach the 100 mark in a season, while her 116 total denials are the most since Newsome recorded 137 in 2010.

Sato Continues Push Up MSU Record Books…
MSU's sophomore setter Blossom Sato has had a standout season, as she leads the team with 760 assists and a 7.38 per set average. She has already eclipsed the 1,000-assists mark for her career and cracked the Top 10 for career assists at MSU. Sato currently stands seventh with 1,632 career assists. Next on the list at sixth place: Paris Perret (2010-12) with 2,578.
