STARKVILLE, Miss. – We're nearing the halfway point of the Southeastern Conference season, with the Mississippi State Bulldogs looking to bounce back from a three-match losing streak. As MSU gets ready for a Friday on the road and a Sunday at home, it's time to take a look back at last week and the 2016 season as a whole with this week's Bulldog Volleyball Notebook.
Weekend Recap…
It was a week filled with thrilling matches, as the Bulldogs began a three-match road trip in the state of Alabama. State opened up a Wednesday night showdown at Alabama with a first-set victory, but dropped the next three to fall, 3-1. Sunday was a back-and-forth battle, with the Auburn Tigers narrowly pulling out a five-set victory at Auburn Arena.

Dogs Looking To Make History On Friday…
When Mississippi State heads to Gainesville to take on the No. 10 Florida Gators on Friday, it will be looking to make history. A win against the SEC's top-ranked program would be the first in school history, as the Bulldogs are 0-46 against the Gators, including a 0-22 in Gainesville.
Season Sweep Of Tennessee Within Grasp…
State opened the 2016 season with a sweep of the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville and it will look to repeat that success on Sunday. MSU returns home from Florida to host the Vols, looking to avenge a five-set loss last season at The Griss. It would mark a season sweep of UT, a first since 2013 and only the fourth in program history.
Singleton Continues Dominating Senior Campaign…
Evie Grace Singleton has been the Bulldogs' offensive leader since the get-go this season. After last weekend, she continued to dominate on the stat sheets, starting with a team-high 39 aces, which tops the SEC and stands fifth in the nation. Singleton is also second in the conference and Top 20 in the NCAA in kills (336), attacks (925), points (391.5) and aces per set (0.46).
MSU's Big Three Strikes Again…
A growing trend for MSU in recent weeks has been the presence of an offensive big three of Evie Grace Singleton, Emily Hill and Jelena Vujcin. Against Auburn, the trio all recorded double-digit kills, marking the seventh time in the last eight matches they have accomplished that feat.
Bulldog Block Party…
State's blocking game continues to be its strong point as the team gets SEC play going. MSU leads the SEC in total blocks with 187.5 and stands 45th in the nation.
Leading the way is senior Jazmyne Johnson, who has totaled 100 total blocks. Johnson recorded 6 denials on Sunday at Auburn to become the first Bulldog since Lainey Wyman in 2011 to reach the 100 mark in a season.
Johnson Closing In On MSU's Blocking Top 10…
Johnson's blocking prowess also has her close to etching her name in the Bulldog record books. She now stands just 13 blocks away from tying for 10th place on the MSU single-season blocks list.
Harris Continues To Climb MSU Record Books…
Junior Payton Harris now stands at 1,416 digs for her career and continues to make strides up the MSU record book. She currently holds fourth place on the school's career digs list and is 17 digs away from tying Kayla Woodard (2007-10) for third place. Melissa Kariker (1993-96) holds the school record with 1,707.
Hill Making Moves In The MSU Freshman Record Book…
Emily Hill's freshman season has been nothing short of amazing and now she's starting to place her name in the record books after last weekend. Hill's 252 kills are currently seventh-most in MSU freshman history, while her 660 total attacks rank eigth in the MSU freshman annals.
Duzenack Kills It From The Service Line On Sunday…
All season the Bulldogs have dominated the service line, mostly behind the arm of Evie Grace Singleton. On Sunday, freshman Riley Duzenack took center stage, as she tallied a career-high 5 aces against the Auburn Tigers. She is the first Bulldog this season with a 5-ace match and the first to do so since Singleton recorded five against Tennessee last season (Oct. 25, 2015).
