Brett Thompson joins Mississippi State’s volleyball staff as the program’s volunteer assistant coach, combining coaching experience at the club and prep levels alongside a collegiate playing career. Thomspon will assist in team training, practice planning, scouting and managing statistics.
Most recently, Thompson completed a three-year collegiate stint at Viterbo University, where he was an all-conference selection his final two seasons after leading the V-Hawks in kills, hitting percentage and blocks in both campaigns. Thompson was named a team captain all three years and helped build the program from its inception.
Prior to that, Thompson served as the head volleyball coach for West Salem High School in his hometown of West Salem, Wisconsin, where he led the program to three consecutive conference championships and an overall record of 72-28 from 2017-19. In addition, Thompson gained experience on the club level with various 13U and 14U squads in 2016, 2017 and 2019.
A West Salem, Wisconsin, native, Thompson graduated from Viterbo University with a degree in elementary education and a minor in special education.
