Fan favorite Dominique Dillingham returns for her third season on the Mississippi State bench and second as State’s Video Coordinator during the 2019-20 season.
Dillingham joins the Bulldog coaching staff after wrapping her four-year playing career in Starkville as part of the winningest class in program history.
In the role, Dillingham is responsible for breaking down game and practice film, as well as video exchange for Schaefer’s squad. The move comes after she spent the 2017-18 season as a student assistant on the staff.
Dillingham joined the staff after wrapping her four-year playing career in Starkville as part of Vic Schaefer’s first MSU signing class that claimed its then-school record 111th-career win in the program’s Final Four upset of UConn that halted the Huskies’ collegiate-record 111-game win streak and won State the ESPY for Best Upset.
During her MSU career, Dillingham helped the Bulldogs reach new heights the program had never seen. She helped MSU set program records for both overall and SEC wins each of the last three seasons. The team also finished third in the SEC her sophomore season and second her junior and senior years. Her final two seasons in Maroon and White saw the Dawgs also play their way into the SEC Tournament championship game.
Dillingham and her classmates put MSU back into the postseason for the first time since 2010, taking State to the WNIT quarterfinals as a freshman before leading MSU to the NCAA Tournament her final three seasons. After guiding the Bulldogs to the Sweet 16 in 2016, she capped her career by helping take MSU to the national championship game in the program’s first Final Four appearance.
The Spring, Texas, native played in 139-career games and started 119 times at Mississippi State and averaged 7.3 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 steals per game. She wrapped her four years 25th at MSU in career scoring with 1,013 points and fourth with 210 steals.
Known for her lockdown defense, Dillingham, who took 131-career charges, was named to the SEC All-Defensive Team each of the last two years. She also claimed Associated Press All-SEC Honorable Mention following a junior season (2015-16) in which she averaged 7.9 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.
Dillingham was also a standout in the classroom, earning SEC Academic Honor Roll accolades all four years. She was also MSU’s nominee for the SEC Boyd-McWhorter Scholarship and a nominee for the NCAA Woman of the Year Award.
