Four Bulldog Double Doubles Propel State To Final Non-Conference Victory Over Samford
December 28, 2025 | Women's Basketball
STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Bulldogs (13-1) scored a Purcell-era record 112 points in their final contest of 2025 on the way to a 58-point win over the Samford Bulldogs, 112-54. Favour Nwaedozi, Jaylah Lampley, Madison Francis and Chandler Prater all finished the contest in double doubles.
Â
Nwaedozi collected a career-high 30 points on 12-18 shooting in her seventh double double of the season. She grabbed 10 rebounds in the effort and knocked down 75 percent of her free throws in the contest. Nwaedozi's 30 points tied the most of any Bulldog this season.
Â
Lampley made her first career start on Sunday. The freshman from Fishers, Indiana, scored a season-high 24 points on 10-12 shooting, and grabbed 10 rebounds, which also tied a season-high. Lampley also collected a pair of steals and assists in the career day.
Â
Francis stuffed the stat sheet with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. She shot 10-14 from the floor in the contest. This was Francis' second 20+ point performance and tenth game in double figures this year. She led the team in blocks for the tenth time this year.
Â
Prater tallied her fifth straight double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds, becoming the first Bulldog to gather five straight double doubles since Teiara McCowan did in 2019. Prater also dished out six assists and three steals, as well as collecting a block.
Â
Destiney McPhaul fell two points shy of her second double double of the season, but facilitated the Bulldog offense throughout the day, as she tied her season-high of 10 assists with no turnovers.
Â
The Bulldogs will be back in action when they open conference play on New Year's Day against the Auburn Tigers. Tipoff for the contest is set for 6:30 p.m.
Â
Quoting Jaylah Lampley
On her first start…
"I want to thank Coach Sam and the rest of the staff for trusting me and giving me the opportunity to start. I felt prepared. I have great teammates that always push me and want to see me do well, so it felt like it was a normal game for me.
Â
On her time in Starkville thus far…
"Honestly, it's the reason why I came here. It's home away from home. The academic side is amazing; the fan base is as well. I couldn't be more grateful to see them every single game. And most of all, my coaches and teammates. I have my own sisters here and we support each other every step of the way, so I'm very grateful to be here."
Â
Quoting Favour Nwaedozi
On the team performing in all four quarters…
"We've practiced this past month to be a fourth quarter team, not just winning the first and second, but winning the entire game. Every quarter is a new start, it's 0-0, so we've got to put our heads in the game and play like we just started."
