Bio
Athletic sophomore who figures to again contribute at either forward position for the Bulldogs because of his athleticism around the basket and improved perimeter jumper... Returned to his native Mississippi after spending the 2004-05 campaign at Bridgton Academy in Maine as a fifth-year player... Originally hails from Grenada, Miss., where he starred in both basketball and track and field at Grenada High School... Former state high jump champion as a prep senior... Reunited at State this season with former high school teammate and incoming Bulldog freshman guard Phil Turner... Explosive leaper with deceptive strength who continues to draw comparisons to former ultra-athletic Bulldog forward-turned-professional football defensive back Michael Gholar... Averaged 4.7 points and 2.0 rebounds during MSU’s three-game sweep of Canadian collegiate competition this past Labor Day weekend in Vancouver... Hit 6-of-10 field goals during the trip... Capped the weekend by hitting 4-of-6 shots in eight-point effort against Douglas College... Previously teamed with former State signee and current Golden State Warriors guard Monta Ellis on the Magnolia Stars AAU team.
Totaled 10 points, 32 rebounds (1.6 rpg), seven blocks, three assists and two steals in 20 reserve appearances (9.0 mins/gm) a year ago as a true freshman... Struggled with 18-percent field-goal shooting (5-28 FGs & 0-3 treys) for the season... Saw double-figure minutes played on six occasions last season... Saw action in each of MSU’s last 10 games last season after playing just nine total minutes in his first two league outings (Vanderbilt & Tennessee) during the team’s first seven SEC games... Averaged 3.5 rebounds over his last four outings of 2005-06... Tied a season high with six rebounds and had a block in a season-most 26 minutes at Arkansas... Ranked as BA’s third-leading scorer and No. 2 rebounder on the 2004-05 season, recording season-high totals of 25 points and 15 rebounds in separate outings versus Maine Central Institute...
