2017: Earned the team’s first hit of the 2017 season on Feb. 17 against Texas Tech in the third inning • Hit a team-best .533 (8 for 15) during Opening Weekend • Legged out a stand-up triple vs. Morehead State on Feb. 21 • On April 9, went 2 for 3 with three runs scored and an RBI in the series-clinching win against Kentucky • Hit 4 for 9 (.444) with five runs in the series against Kentucky April 7-9 • Drove in two runs at South Carolina on April 14 • Went 2 for 3 with a run vs. Ole Miss in the Governor’s Cup in Pearl • Went 1 for 2 with two walks and two runs scored vs. Troy on May 16 • Went 2 for 5 with two RBIs and a stolen base on May 19 vs. LSU • Hit his first career home run on May 20 vs. LSU, driving in a pair of runs • Tied his career high for hits with three vs. Florida on May 26 in the SEC Tournament • Went 2-for-5 with two RBIs and a homer vs. South Alabama on June 4 • Named Hattiesburg Regional All-Tournament • Played summer ball in the Cape Cod Baseball League for the Hyannis Harbor Hawks.
2016: Had 87 at-bats in his freshman campaign while making 16 starts at second base and four starts at catcher • Went perfect in the stolen base category at 6 for 6 which was good enough for 2nd on the team • Made his season debut Feb. 19 against Florida Atlantic picking up a hit and an RBI in his only at-bat • 1 for 2 against South Dakota State on Feb. 20 with an RBI • Picked up two hits and scored two runs versus Nicholls State on Feb. 27 • Picked up his first collegiate double against Nicholls State on Feb. 28 • Stole two bases and scored a run in a win against Alcorn State on March 1 • Drove in a pair of runs against Oregon on March 12 • Had a two-hit and two-RBI night versus Mississippi Valley State on March 22 • Scored a pair of runs and drove in two at LSU on April 22 • Returned from an injury which had sidelined him a month against LSU in the SEC Tournament on May 26 and picked up two hits.
HIGH SCHOOL: 2015 Louisville Slugger All-American • 2015 MaxPreps All-American • 2013, 2014 and 2015 Perfect Game All-American • Named the 2014-15 Gatorade Alabama Baseball Player of the Year as a senior after batting .461 with 10 home runs, 48 runs and 57 RBIs • Stole 28 bases and totaled 18 walks to go along with a .582 on-base percentage and an .825 slugging clip • Named the 2015 Birmingham News Metro Baseball Player of the Year • Led the Panthers to a 33-12 record and a trip to the Class 6A state championship series • 2014 Class 6A honorable mention All-State selection after hitting .375 with 30 runs, 29 stolen bases and 24 RBIs • Selected to the 2014 National Showcase Rawlings Top Prospect Team • 2013 MaxPreps All-American • Led PHS to the 2013 Class 6A state title as a sophomore, batting .359 with 32 runs, 30 RBIs and 20 stolen bases • Hit .385 with 29 runs and 28 RBIs as a freshman in 2012 • Also played football for two seasons, receiving interest from Auburn, Arkansas, Miami and Florida State • Played travel ball for the Dulins Dodgers alongside teammates Luke Alexander, Trysten Barlow, Keegan James and Jake Mangum.
PERSONAL: Born Hunter Grant Stovall on Sept. 5, 1996 in Birmingham, Alabama • Son of Selina and Eric Stovall • Has one sister, Ansley • Major is kinesiology • Chose Mississippi State over Auburn • Born five weeks premature and died while being born before being brought back to life • Favorite MLB player is Dustin Pedroia of the Boston Red Sox, which is his favorite MLB team • Member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes • Has volunteered locally on behalf of his church, the March of Dimes Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and the Field of Angels Baseball League for children with disabilities • Spends his spare time participating in multiple charitable initiatives to benefit the homeless and raise awareness for breast and ovarian cancer • Also spent his summer volunteering at an assisted living facility and working as a volunteer baseball coach • First cousin Tyler was the holder for the Auburn football team.
