A starter in 29 of his 35 games played as a sophomore, 14 in right field, 13 in left field and two as the DH ? Made his first career start in right field in MSU’s season-opener against Murray State (Feb. 23) ? Hit .312 for the season (.330 as a starter) with 12 extra-base hits ? Hit two triples to share team lead ? Went 2-for-2 and drove in two runs in his season debut and 5-for-8 with five RBI in the three-game season-opening series against Murray State ? Had hits in 11 of his first 12 games and 12 of his season total 23 RBI over that span ? Delivered his first career home run and the first by a Bulldog in 2007 with a two-run shot against Murray State (Feb. 24) ? Registered eight multi-hit games and eight multi-RBI games ? Turned in a career-best 3-for-4, 3-RBI performance with two doubles and his fourth home run of the year in the series finale at Arkansas (Apr. 8) ? 2005:
Sat out the campaign as a freshman redshirt.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Three-year letter-winner as an outfielder and first baseman at Jacksonville’s Bishop Kenny High School ? Coached by former MSU staff member Bob West ? Compiled a .348 batting average with five home runs and 21 RBI for the BKHS Crusaders as a senior in 2004 ? Compiled a .622 slugging percentage and struck out only six times ? Hit .432 with nine home runs and 29 RBI in his final season of American Legion competition in 2004 ? Overcame an early-season injury to hit .368 with six doubles and three home runs as a junior, helping lead BKHS to a 28-3 record ? Earned his first varsity letter as an outfielder his sophomore season on the Crusader team that captured the 2002 state title ?
