Played in 17 games as a freshman with five starts, all in right field ? Hit .276 (8-for-29) with two doubles ? Made his collegiate debut against Murray State (Feb. 24) as a defensive replacement in right field ? Laced a double and scored a run in his first career plate appearance ? Singled in his first career run a day later in the series finale against Murray State (Feb. 25) ? Reached base twice with a single and a career-first walk in MSU’s 17-7 win over UL-Monroe (Apr. 3) ? Delivered a single against Southern Miss (Apr. 24) to open a four-game hitting streak ? Legged out a pinch-hit double at Mississippi (Apr. 27) and two days later (Apr. 29) drew his first career start (right field) against UM in his home town ? Went the distance in the series finale, a 4-1 MSU win in a school-record 17 innings ? Started the next four games in right field, including MSU’s three-game series sweep of Auburn (May 4-6) at Dudy Noble Field ? Missed MSU’s post-season competition with a back injury ? Three-year starter and 2005 all-state standout for coach Brian Harvey at Oxford High School ? Saw playing time as an outfielder/first baseman/pitcher, compiling a .399 career batting average with 125 RBI, 60 extra-base hits and 32 stolen bases in three seasons as a starter ? Paced the Chargers with a .466 batting average and drove in 58 runs in helping lead OHS to a 36-4 mark and 2005 Class 4A State Championship ? Led Oxford with 55 hits, 15 doubles and three triples ? Also registered 15 stolen bases in 18 attempts and compiled a 9-0 pitching record with a 2.25 earned run average ? Tabbed for all-state honors by the Jackson Clarion-Ledger and Player of the Year honors by both the Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal and, for the second year, the Oxford Eagle ? Received "Best Defensive Player" award at the 2005 Crossroads Diamond All-Star Game held in Pearl, Miss. ? Also earned MVP honors at the 2005 NEMCABB All-Star Game in Corinth, Miss. ?
