March 07, 2025 | Baseball
State earns a 9-3 victory.
STARKVILLE– Yet another strong start from Pico Kohn and a pair of Mississippi State home runs helped the Bulldogs to a series-opening 9-3 win over Queens on Friday night at Dudy Noble Field.
Kohn tossed six solid frames, striking out nine and allowing three runs on four hits on the way to picking up his third win of the year. Noah Sullivan and Hunter Hines each went deep for the Diamond Dawgs.
Hines was a centerpiece of MSU's 10-hit attack. He went 3-for-4 at the plate with his homer, plus a double and three RBIs. Sullivan had a pair of RBIs and hits, including his third long ball of the year. Ace Reese also had two hits, including a double, while also driving in a run.
Nate Williams and Luke Dotson were solid in relief out of the Bulldog bullpen. The duo combined to hurl three shutout innings, allowing only two hits and punching out seven Queens batters.
The victory improves State to 9-4 for the season, while Queens fell to 2-11.
