Season: Appeared in 29 games, with seven starts … Three of his starts came as the DH, two at right field, one in left field and one on the mound …Earned SEC Freshman of the Week honors on March 18 after a career performance against LSU … Accumulated a .269 batting average with seven hits, two runs, two RBIs … Hit his first career homer run in Biloxi against New Orleans … Had his first multi-hit game on February 29 against Mount St. Mary’s … Finished with 28 punchouts, eight walks and 14 runs allowed all earned to grab a 4.72 ERA in 26.2 innings … Ended the season with a 2-3 record … Had a season best eight strikeouts against LSU on March 15, in that contest he went 5.2 innings and picked up the win … He had at least one strikeout in 13 of his 14 appearances.
Air Force (2/18): Picked up a single at bat in the pinch hitter role. Austin Peay (2/20): Struck out three with no walks surrendered in 2.1 innings of work. Jackson State (2/27): Punched out four Tigers in 2.2 innings of relief work. Southern Miss (3/5): Had two strikeouts in two innings of relief work … Did not allow a run in the appearance. Played at Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Ca. under head coach Bryan Kilby … He led Franklin to a school-record of 30 wins, had a perfect record as a pitcher at 5-0 and had an impressive 1.29 ERA with 62 strikeouts all in his senior year … He also put up numbers offensively as well, hitting a .360 batting average with 40 hits, 35 runs, 23 RBIs and four home runs … Ranked the No. 69 player in the nation and was ranked as the second best first baseman in California by Perfect Game … Earned the honor of being named a Perfect Game All-American twice.
