State Secures Series Over Queens, 10-2

STARKVILLE - Mississippi State secured its third-straight home series win with a 10-2 victory over Queens in front of 10,456 at Dudy Noble Field on Saturday.

Ten different Bulldogs were in the hit column as State (10-4) stacked up 14 hits on the day. Aaron Downs led the way going 3-for-3 with a double, a pair of two-run home runs and five RBIs. Nolan Stevens went 2-for-3 with two doubles while Gatlin Sanders also went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI.
Bryce Chance belted a two-run homer - his third of the year - and Hunter Hines collected a double.

Ben Davis earned his first start in the Maroon and White and picked up the win, evening his record to 1-1. Davis pitched six innings and only surrendered one hit while fanning four. Ryan McPherson, Mikhai Grant and Duke Stone finished out the game on the mound for the Diamond Dawgs, holding Queens (2-12) to just three total hits in the game.

On Deck: MSU goes for the sweep on Sunday at 1 p.m. Senior right-hander Karson Ligon (1-1, 5.00 ERA) is set to start for the Bulldogs while the Royals counter with sophomore righty Jack Renaud (0-0, 11.88 ERA).

The series finale will be broadcast on SEC Network+.

Downs is now second on the team with five homers.
Ben Davis pitched his new single-game career high of innings pitched
Mississippi State has had back-to-back 10,000-plus crowds and have now had five crowds over 10,000 through 10 home games this season.
Stone made his MSU debut, working the top of the ninth in relief.
