State Drops Series At No. 10 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. – Mississippi State lost the rubber game of its weekend series at 10th-ranked Oklahoma 7-3 on Sunday.
The Diamond Dawgs plated all three of their runs in the top of the third inning to take a one-run lead but were unable to sustain it, falling to 15-9 overall and 1-9 in Southeastern Conference play.
MSU outhit the Sooners 8-7 led by Nolan Stevens and Gatlin Sanders going 2-for-3 at the plate with a pair of singles apiece. Hunter Hines provided a 2-for-4 performance with two singles and an RBI and Ace Reese drove in a pair on a double.
Karson Ligon (2-3) took the loss, lasting five innings and surrendering five runs on four hits and finishing with five strikeouts and three walks.
MSU pitching held the Sooners (20-3, 4-2 SEC) to only seven hits and struck out a total of eight batters.
On Deck:
Mississippi State is back in Starkville on Tuesday to take on Samford at 6 p.m. The game will be streamed on SEC Network+.
