STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs are finding their groove after claiming their eighth straight win following an 8-3 win over Evansville on Saturday night at Dudy Noble Field. Mississippi State collected nine hits on the game with five going for extra base hits.
Dakota Jordan stayed hot going 2-for-3 at the plate and collected four RBIs. He hit his seventh home run of the year and his third straight game with a bomb. Hunter Hines hit his first home run of the season in the bottom of the third and went 1-for-4 in the contest.
Khal Stephen earned the start on the mound and pitched 6.0 innings, punched out three and allowed just one hit to earn the win and improve to 2-1. Evan Siary, Colby Holcombe and Logan Forsythe pitched a combined 3.0 innings and struck out three.
Mississippi State is back in Dudy Noble Field for the series finale against Evansville Sunday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. and will be broadcasted on SECN+.
