Diamond Dawgs Sweep Evansville

MSU earned its ninth straight win on Sunday afternoon.
STARKVILLE - The Mississippi State Diamond Dawgs recorded their second sweep of the 2024 season with a 13-3 win over Evansville Sunday afternoon. The win for the Dawgs increases their winning streak to nine games, the longest since the 2021 season.
Dylan Cupp had a day going 4-for-5 at the plate. He collected three RBIs with a single in the sixth and a double to right field in the eighth. Connor Hujsak contributed three hits to the box score after a 3-for-4 day at the plate. Dakota Jordan hit his eighth home run of the season and then drew three intentional walks on the afternoon.
Jurrangelo Cijntje got the start on the mound for the series finale and earned his third win of the season. Cijntje put in six innings of work and punched out 10 to tie his career-high which he set against Mount St. Mary's on March 2.
Mississippi State is back in action for a pair of midweek matchups in Biloxi at the Hancock Whitney Classic. State will face South Alabama Tuesday at 6 p.m. and New Orleans on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
