State Drops Two Matches to No. 4 South Carolina and No. 9 Duke

AIKEN, S.C. – The Mississippi State Bulldogs completed the first two matches of the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play on Monday.
In the opening match of the day, State was paired up with No. 4 South Carolina. Avery Weed earned the sole individual point for the Bulldogs, as she won 1UP over South Carolina's Louise Rydqvist. Izzy Pellot finished her match with Sophia Burnett in a tie, as State dropped the match 3-1-1.
State took on the No. 9 Duke Blue Devils in the second match of the day. Early in the match, the Bulldogs were locked in a 2-2-1 tie with Duke, but fell behind as they dropped the match 5-0.
The Bulldogs will be matched up with No. 18 Florida State in the final match of the Old Barnwell Derby Play on Tuesday.
