State Opens Mason Rudolph Championship Even Par

FRANKLIN, Tenn. โ Mississippi State women's golf fired off an even par round in the opening day of the Mason Rudolph Championship. The Bulldogs sit in fifth place entering the second day of action.

State was one of five teams to shoot par or better in the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship on Friday. The Bulldogs are six strokes back of the leader, Florida, who shot 6-under across the first 18 holes.

Samantha Whateley shot her second par or better round of the season with an opening round 70 (-1). Tied for Whateley in 12th is her Bulldog teammate, Alicia Bellendir, who has now opened each of her events with an under par round after shooting a 3-under round in her collegiate debut.

Alona Avery made her Mississippi State debut on Friday. The junior Riverside, California, finished the day with an even par round, marking the 19th of her career. This was her third consecutive even par round, which spans back to last season. Avery is T20 entering the second day of action.

Avery Weed and Moa Stridh rounded out the Bulldog lineup with a pair of 2-over rounds. The duo both sit T36 entering round two.
