FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Mississippi State women's golf came out on fire in the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship, shooting 5-under as a team, the best score of any team in the second day, to climb three positions into second place entering the final round of action.

Samantha Whateley shot a 4-under 67, which marked the best round of any golfer in the field during the second round. This was her first round in the 60s of this season and the 13th of her career. Whateley will look to climb into the top spot tomorrow, as she currently is in second at 5-under, two strokes off the lead.

Avery Weed bounced back from a 2-over opening round with a 1-under second round on Saturday, climbing 25 positions to T14. This was Weed's 56th career par or better round and the third of this season.

Alicia Bellendir remains inside the top ten at T8 after firing off an even par round. She remains 1-under entering the final day of action. She has now recorded three par or better rounds in her short career.

Alona Avery has now recorded back-to-back even par rounds in her first two appearances as a Bulldog. She is T12 entering the final day of action. Moa Stridh also shot even par in the second round and is T20 at 2-over.

Competing individually in the Mason Rudolph Championship is Ines Belchior. She climbed 36 positions today, the second-most of any golfer in the field, after she shot a 2-under 69 on Saturday. Belchior is T38 entering the last round.
