AIKEN, S.C. – The Mississippi State women's golf team earned a tie with No. 18 Florida State in the final round of the Old Barnwell Derby Match Play on Tuesday. The contest saw numerous lead changes, but eventually concluded with the two squads locked at two individual points apiece.
Â
Avery Weed earned the first individual point of the match for the Dawgs. Weed sat in a tie with Florida State's Charolotte Heath entering the final three holes of the matchup. Weed earned the victory on the pairings' sixteenth hole of the day and held that lead throughout the finale of the matchup.
Â
Julia Lopez Ramirez won the second point for the Dawgs. After falling behind early to Florida State's Lottie Woad on the first hole of the day, Lopez Ramirez immediately regained the tie, as she won the next hole.
