Women’s Golf Ready for NCAA National Championships

STARKVILLE – Mississippi State is set for its third NCAA women's golf Championships appearance on Friday. The NCAA Championships, hosted by Arizona State, will be held at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., from May 20-25.
For the second consecutive year, the Grayhawk Golf Club will set the stage for the crowing of a new NCAA women's golf champion. The par-72 Raptor course stretches through the Sonoran Desert across 6,384 yards.
The Bulldogs will take part in the 24-team field to conclude the 2021-2022 season. The 24-team field is made up of 21 of the top 25 teams ranked in the latest top 25 Golfweek rankings. The Bulldogs will be the 22nd seed in a field that features a league-record nine teams from the Southeastern Conference.
2022 NCAA Championships Seeding
For State, Blair Stockett will lead off and take the number one spot. In the Tallahassee Regional, Stockett finished tied for 21st with a score of 8-over.
Ashley Gilliam is second in the lineup. Gilliam stayed in the top-10 throughout the entirety of the regional and led the Bulldogs in scoring all three days. Gilliam finished tied for ninth with a final tally of 3-over par and sunk the fourth most birdies throughout the event with 12. Gilliam became the second Bulldog all-time to finish in the top-10 of an NCAA Regional and secured the third-highest finish in an NCAA tournament event in school history.
Abbey Daniel will shoot third. Throughout the season, Daniel has appeared in six events carding four rounds of par or better and a season average of 76.2. Daniel was selected to the 2022 SEC Community Team for her efforts to reach out to her local community throughout the season.
Hannah Levi will shoot fourth in the lineup. In the Tallahassee Regional, finished tied for 16th carding three consecutive rounds of 2-over (74).
Rounding out the lineup for the Bulldogs is the 2022 SEC Freshman of the Year, Julia Lopez Ramirez. In the Tallahassee Regional, Lopez Ramirez rolled in the second most pars of the event with 36 over three rounds.
The 2022 NCAA Championships will feature stroke play for the first three rounds (May 20-23) and match play (May 24-25) for the seventh consecutive year. At the completion of the third round, the top 15 teams and nine individuals from non-advancing teams will advance to a final round of stroke play on Monday.
Following the completion of stroke play on Monday, the top eight teams will advance to match play and a 72-hole individual champion will be announced. The quarterfinals and semifinals are slated for Tuesday with the championship match Wednesday to crown a new Division 1 NCAA Women's Golf Champion.
Live coverage of the NCAA Championships will be available via the GOLF Channel from May 23-25. The final round of stroke play will air at 4 pm CT Monday.
Golf Channel Coverage
State will tee off at approximately 9:25 am CT Friday from Hole 1. The Bulldogs will be paired with fellow SEC member Vanderbilt and Purdue from the Big Ten for the first two rounds.
