Bulldogs Hit The Road To Face Rival Ole Miss

OXFORD, Miss. -Â Mississippi State's women's tennis team is set to go north to face in-state rival Ole Miss on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT.

MSU's 61st-ranked squad (10-10, 1-7 SEC) fell by 4-3 mark in a pair of road matches to then No. 42 South Carolina as well as then No. 16 Florida their last time on the courts.

No. 51 Ole Miss (8-8, 2-6 SEC) has dropped their past three matches to Auburn, Florida, and South Carolina respectively. They have two ranked singles players in the latest ITA rankings.

Several of MSU's players are familiar with Ole Miss this season, having faced some of their players in the fall.

Magda Adaloglou upset then No. 27 Sabina Machalova 6-2, 6-2 to earn the highest ranked victory of her career. Also, Chloé Cirotte defeated Rachel Krzyzak 2-6, 6-4, 6-1 in a thrilling three-set match. Both of these matches took place at the John Cade Invitational held in Starkville from Nov. 5-7.

Multiple Bulldogs have been playing great tennis in singles play as of late.

Cirotte, the reigning ITA Southern Region Rookie of Year, has won four-straight matches. These include three SEC wins as well as a ranked victory over then No. 102 Petra Sedlackova of Alabama. Cirotte has been stellar at the No. 3 spot for MSU this spring with an impressive 8-2 record.

Marta Falceto has also won her past four matches, three of which were SEC wins. Falceto has excelled against Southern Region opponents (the Southern Region includes all schools in Mississippi, Alabama, and Louisiana) with a 4-1 mark in dual play.

This past weekend, Alexandra Mikhailuk earned a 6-7(4), 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 86 Elise Mills of South Carolina. Mikhailuk has also won three of her past four matches, all of which have been SEC wins.

In doubles play, the pairing of Emmanouela Antonaki and Marta Falceto has been heating up with three victories against their past four opponents. In their last match, the duo took down Florida's 34th-ranked duo of Alicia Dudeney and Bentee Spee 6-1.
